Oppo A31 vs Realme 6 – Which One Should I Buy?

This is a battle for dominance between two of the best budget smartphones available in the market- the Oppo A31 and the Realme 6. Both the phones feature incredible displays, powerful cameras and latest processors, delivering a superior and lag-free performance at all times. However, if you want to know how the two devices stack against each other, we compare them for you in this article.

Design: The Oppo A31 follows a more traditional approach, featuring a single tone design with glossy finish which is easy on the eyes. The back panel looks elegant but prone to gather significant amounts of smudges and fingerprints. The device is slim at 8.3mm in thickness and weighs 180g, making it easy to operate with one hand.

On the other hand, the Realme 6 offers a more premium look with a gradient finish, and multiple streaks at the back. It’s highly reflective and manages to grab the eyeballs. The Realme phone is bulkier (8.9mm) and heavier (191 grams) as compared to the Oppo device. Thanks to the curved edges that wrap around the display, it sits perfectly in your palm. The Realme 6 looks more premium and thus takes the lead with its advanced design language.

Display: The Oppo A31 flaunts a huge 6.5-inch display with a small dewdrop notch, housing a front-facing camera. It has an IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution, not an AMOLED screen, a decent enough bet for budget phones. The A31 offers an immersive viewing experience due to the almost non-existent bezels, and the screen-to-body ratio of 82.4.

Realme 6 also sports a 6.5-inch screen, but it’s a 90Hz panel with Full HD+ resolution compared to the standard 60Hz display of the Oppo phone. Higher refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution account for smooth graphics, better gaming experience and superior viewing experience. So, when we compare Oppo A31 and Realme 6’s display performance, the latter outperforms the former.

Camera: The most noticeable difference between the two phones is in the camera department. While the Oppo A31 features a triple-camera setup (12MP + 2MP + 2MP) at the back, the Realme 6 flaunts a 64MP primary sensor, with three additional lenses of 8MP, 2MP and 2MP. That said, the Oppo A31 is no slouch at photography, but an additional sensor and higher megapixel count make the Realme 6 a superior deal. When it comes to front cameras, the Realme 6, again, is a step ahead at 16MP instead of A31’s 8MP.

Processor: The Oppo A31 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset along with the PowerVR GE8320 GPU, making it one of the fastest budget phones with consistent performance. It runs on Oppo’s ColorOS 6.1, which is based on Android 9.0 (Pie) platform. You get two storage options to choose from- 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB. The Realme 6, on the other hand, houses a more powerful G90T chip from MediaTek.

It’s a gaming-centric processor, capable of delivering high-end gameplay experience and graphics rendering. Clubbed with Mali-G76 MC4 GPU and UFS 2.1 storage-type, the Realme 6 offers even more seamless performance no matter what you throw at it. It comes in three variants: 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB.

Battery: The Oppo A31 features a 4230mAh battery with no fast-charging support while the Realme 6 Pro has a slightly larger 4,400mAh cell with 30Wfast charging support.

The Realme 6 may appear like a winner here but both phones come with their own set of pros and cons. When zeroing in on the model of your choice, you can take into consideration all of the aforementioned points.
